Celtic introduces qualified high deductible health savings account plan

Monday, December 4th, 2006

(Chicago, August, 2004) – Celtic Insurance Company enters the new market of consumer-driven health programs created under recent federal legislation by introducing the CelticSaver HSA qualified high deductible health plan. Designed for individuals or families to provide major medical coverage including up to $5,000,000 of reliable health insurance protection combined with a tax-free Health Savings Account (HSA) option to make the health plan even more affordable.

The CelticSaver HSA Health Plan offers flexibility along with control for those between the ages of 18 and 64 ½ years. Clients can choose a PPO or Managed Indemnity plan with individual deductible choices of $1,500, $2,600, and $5,000, and family deductible choices of $3,000, $5,150 and $10,000 with 100% payment of medical expenses after the deductible is met. The lifetime maximum of $5,000,000 provides consumers extensive protection against any major catastrophes.

“We’re excited to enter this new market,” said Jim Daly, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “The CelticSaver HSA can take care of an individual’s healthcare needs and financial needs in one plan and allows consumers to leverage their health care dollars as never before.”

The CelticSaver HSA health plan works hard to give clients optimal access to health care providers and prescription drugs at competitive rates.  Policyholders receive savings from the nationwide PPO network and pharmacy network and those who are traveling or relocating are assured of receiving continuous money-saving coverage.

Celtic partnered with MSAver, a nationally-recognized provider of HSA administration, to manage the health savings accounts. MSAver administers the accounts and manages them through a portfolio of financial instruments.  Policyholders have a range of investment options to choose from and pay for qualified medical expenses such as contact lens, dental care and long-term care insurance by check or debit card from their MSAver HSA fund.

“These medical IRAs give individuals greater control over their healthcare decisions, offer significant tax advantages, and make it easy and economical to save for future medical expenses,” said Daly.  “They’re a great opportunity.”

New Low-Cost Basic Health Coverage for Individuals Introduced by Celtic Insurance Company

Monday, December 4th, 2006

(Chicago, May, 2005) – In an effort to meet the needs of uninsured young singles and families, as well as recent graduates and young professionals between the ages of 19-34, Celtic developed the new Celtic Basic plan to provide essential health insurance coverage at an affordable rate. Celtic Basic offers an economical solution for individuals who do not want to pay high premiums for coverage they do not use.

“Today more than ever individuals are shopping for price when making insurance decisions,” said Jim Daly, Chief Operating Officer of Celtic Insurance Company. “They’re looking for inexpensive coverage, yet they want to be certain they are fully protected against expensive unforeseen medical procedures. So with Celtic Basic the essentials, the features, and most importantly, the rates these consumers want, are all built-in.”

The new Celtic Basic plan provides the same type of benefits as Celtic’s other major medical plans, including coverage for doctor office visits, hospitalization, surgery and impatient and outpatient care. In addition, Celtic added supplemental features that help provide a competitive edge over other basic health plans. Celtic Basic offers two $30 copay office visits per year, provides first-dollar preventive care coverage up to $200 after a 12-month eligibility period, 80/20 coinsurance for network providers, and a choice of three deductibles: $1,500, $2,500 and $5,000.

Because of the targeted market segment for Celtic Basic, the plan also provides a lifetime maximum of $5 million to fully protect customers with families, obligations or educational debt. And an optional prescription drug card is available with a $25 copayment for generic drugs.

“The Celtic Basic plan rounds out Celtic’s individual health portfolio and provides new opportunities for helping agents do what’s best for their customers,” Daly said. “For price-sensitive prospects, Celtic Basic will be a solution agents can turn to time and time again.”
